All that water, fertilizer, mowing, weeding and edging - why?
Minimizing turf
The role of turf should be carefully considered. There is no substitute for turf for a playing area. However, many private gardens have large areas of turf that are never used or simply grown as filters. While some types of turf can be fairly water efficient, most gardeners overwater turf. So the more turf they have, the more likely they are to overwater. In a Waterwise design the area of turf should be minimized and made as practical as possible.
