Waterwise Tips

Turf is not a carpet - it's a plant, so just spreading a bit of fertiliser on the soil is not good enough preparation. Improve the soil first and it will result in a more Waterwise turf.

Turf will benefit from top dressing with a material rich in organic matter. Finely screened organic matter is commercially available.

Keep your turf trimmed. Recent research has indicated that by keeping your lawn short, you are reducing the amount of water the lawn requires.

Leave the lawn mower catcher off. Regular light cuts will enable the clippings and the nutrients they contain are then returned to the soil, reducing the need for fertilising. 'By keeping your lawn short, you are reducing the amount of water the lawn requires."
