Introduction

A Waterwise irrigation system is designed, installed and maintained to deliver enough water to sustain plant life at the right time and with the minimum of waste. Unfortunately many current irrigation systems fall well short of this ideal, not only resulting in water wastage but a host of other environmental and social issues.

This DESIGN Topic is divided into a range of subtopics that will discuss the sources of irrigation water and highlight the various issues associated with the sustainable management of this valuable resource.
