Introduction

As a result of our drying climate high water use turf is increasingly being replaced with Waterwise gardens. With appropriate plant selection and efficient irrigation the water use in these areas is being slashed to a fraction of the previous consumption.

The need to reduce water use has driven a rethink in garden area design, irrigation and maintenance. The use of one drop Waterwise plants, combined with the implementation of Waterwise practices such as soil amendments, mulching and hydrozoning have reduced and in many cases eliminated the need for irrigation.
