Subsurface Irrigation

Lawn peeled back to expose the integrated dripper below.

It is possible to water turf from underneath with integrated dripper. A sub irrigation system is not affected by wind, has almost no evaporative loss and distributes water evenly across the entire area. The result is significant water savings and healthier growth. Another significant advantage in public areas is that since there are no visible emitters, vandalism and accidental damage are reduced.

To be effective the system must have a suitable water supply and be properly designed, installed and maintained. Properly designed systems will take water pressure, slope and soil type into account and incorporate vacuum release valves, flush valves, filters and some form of root intrusion treatment.
